License and pricing ​

Sealpixel is source available under the Business Source License 1.1 (BSL). You can read, build, modify, fork and redistribute everything, and you can verify the parity claims yourself. The BSL is not an OSI-approved license, because production use is limited until the change date: four years after a version is published, that version converts to the Apache License 2.0. The Additional Use Grant excludes offering Sealpixel itself as a competing image editing product or service.

  • Free below EUR 1,000,000 of annual revenue. Individuals building for themselves, and organizations under that threshold, use Sealpixel free of charge in production, commercial products included. Revenue counts across the whole group; for client work, the client's revenue decides.
  • Above the threshold, one developer seat per developer who works on a codebase that includes Sealpixel, plus applicable taxes: 499 EUR per seat and year for 1 to 4 seats, 449 EUR for 5 to 9, 399 EUR for 10 to 24. The tier applies to every seat you hold. Reaching a lower tier with additional seats applies it to all of them from the date of the change, prorated for the rest of the term and in full at the next renewal; the elapsed part of the term is not recalculated.   • End users of your application never need a seat. Seats count developers, not usage.
  • Enterprise from 25 seats: source escrow, custom terms, SLA, purchase orders, invoicing and bank transfer.

Seats are sold through Paddle, our online reseller and Merchant of Record. You buy from Paddle, Paddle invoices you and handles VAT, GST and sales tax; nine feet UG stays the producer and grants the license.

There is no runtime license check, no activation and no kill switch. The software never phones home, and nothing stops working when a subscription ends.
